After attending Kelvin Grove College of Advanced Education as it was known then and coming to the realisation that teaching was not for me, I commenced working in a local legal office. I have worked in legal offices ever since, my experience spanning many different areas of law including family, criminal, litigation, commercial, shipping, and conveyancing, and even a stint as an emergency fill-in bookkeeper for 6 months while a co-worker recovered from illness. I now work exclusively in deceased estate administration where my passion lies. I have worked in large firms but mostly smaller suburban firms and was fortunate to be mentored from a young age by wonderfully learned and talented professionals.
I assist clients, usually, Executors, navigate the administration of the estate of a deceased person and for most clients, this involves the death of a close loved one. My great satisfaction is helping people at an extremely emotional time in their lives. I recognise that the estate administration process can seem overwhelming and confusing. I often hear from my clients “I just can’t do this – it’s just too hard” and hearing their relief when I tell them that am happy to support them throughout the matter. I believe that my role is to keep the process as simple and streamlined as possible while remaining accessible and keeping the lines of communication open. I also liaise with our estate litigation department if the matter escalates into a dispute.
I know it is cliché but the best part of my job is helping people, especially in their time of need when they are experiencing feelings of loss, sadness and confusion. I am always gratified to receive expressions of appreciation from my clients and hearing that they intend to refer family and friends.
I am have been married to a wonderful man for many years. Outside of work I assist my husband run our business, I enjoy cooking, sewing, eating out and the company of family and friends.
